MANNINGHAM TENANTS ASSOCIATION
The Association's resident involvement strategy paid off with the formation of the Tenants Advisory Group (TAG). TAG was the main vehicle for getting Board members from the Association's tenant population, as well as for creating the necessary enthusiasm and vision for tenants to get involved in the more practical aspects of housing management, such as dealing with anti-social behaviour, resolving repair complaints and advising on scheme locations.
TAG was reviewed in 2002 to ensure its potential for increasing the capacity of tenants to participate at more strategic levels of service delivery was maximised. In addition, representativeness at meetings had been a problem with dwindling attendance. Issues affecting local schemes were also being overshadowed at TAG meetings by global tenant concerns.
As a result of the review TAG was re-birthed as Manningham Tenants Association, with a brand new consitution providing a clear platform for a more energetic partnership between the Association and its tenants. The review also launched a fresh interest in local resident associations to tackle local issues pivotal to sustainable communities and social cohesion.
