Applicants on our Waiting List are allocated homes through one of the following routes:
General Route
The general route is a point-based system. Applicants will be considered for this route if they have multiple housing needs and require priority attention on our Waiting List. The Priority Need categories mentioned above will be our reference.
The General Route allows us to allocate a number of points to a range of housing needs. The points are then added up to make a total, and this number determines an applicant’s position on the General Route section of our Waiting List.
Broadly speaking, the higher the score, the more quickly the applicant can expect to be offered a home. Other factors will affect this too, however, such as the applicant’s choice of neighbourhood and the number of properties available there to let.
If applicants have the same number of points, then we will use the date they were registered on our waiting list to accord them priority.
Community Route
This route is for people who want to move into another community, for a variety of reasons, such as:
- To give and/or receive support in long term family / extended family situations
- To be close to a community in which they are active
- To take up an offer of employment or a voluntary position in a key worker role
- To have access to medical or other specific community support
Applicants applying through this route are asked to give details to support their application, including their reasons for choosing this area and details of their local connections.
Re-housing through this route is in date order – i.e. the people who have been registered longest on the Community Section of the Waiting List will have priority.
Economic Route
This route is open to the following people:
- In employment who are outside the Priority Needs Categories
- With private income / savings who can afford to rent
- Moving to take up employment (both in a key worker role or a non-key worker role)
Rehousing through this route is in date order – i.e. the people who have been registered longest on the Economic Section of the Waiting List will have priority. |
