RESIDENT INVOLVEMENT APPROACHES

The Three Main Models

There are several resident involvement approaches. Three main models are often the basic ingredients of a standard resident involvement strategy: the consumerist model that sees residents as consumers; the empowerment model that sees the need to provide capacity training and opportunities for residents to act in decision-making capacities in relation to the services that they receive; and the stakeholder model that combines aspects of the two former models.

The Stakeholder Approach
Manningham Housing Association operates the stakeholder model. Our resident involvement strategy includes the setting up of local resident associations.
