DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Increasing Number of Units Manningham Housing Association was formed in 1986. We are a specialist black and minority ethnic (BME) association operating across Bradford. The association has 769 units of general needs accommodation, of which nearly half are of four bedrooms or more. The large number of extended family homes results in a very large client base of over 5,000 residents. The association has a strong role in developing new housing schemes in Bradford and Keighley with a current development pipeline of 170 units, most of which are now on site at an estimated cost of £18,000,000. The Association enjoys strong support from the local authority.

Working Towards Partnering Status The Association is working to gain partnering status through its subsidiary, Firebird Homes. Firebird Homes was formed in 2004 and is growing to include, in a partnership arrangement, a number of other main RSLs in Leeds and Bradford. Partnering status will enable the Association to bid for a greater slice of the capital funding available from the Housing Corporation to develop a greater number of new homes.

Partnership with the Bradford Community Housing Trust Meanwhile, partnership with the Bradford Community Housing Trust will lead to new homes on sites previously owned and managed by the local authority's housing department. Most of these new homes are part of the urban regeneration initiative of Bradford Council.
