We have a detailed policy on rent arrears. The aims of our Rent Arrears Policy are to:

• Collect promptly the full amount of rent income and other charges due from all our tenants
• Keep rent arrears to a minimum
• Adopt a firm but fair approach with tenants who fall into arrears
• Assist and enable tenants to keep their tenancy wherever possible

Our housing officers will seek to help you to arrange how you can pay off your arrears without losing your home.

Get in touch with your Housing Officer. They will:

• Check your benefit entitlement e.g. whether you are entitled to Housing Benefit
• Help with completing forms
• Sort out problems such as the stopping of benefit payment
• Challenge decisions such as the refusal of benefit
