Domestic Abuse Support

Where to get help

If you believe you are being abused or worried you may commit domestic abuse, read the Domestic abuse: get help during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak detailed guidance on how to get help which includes contact information for organisations and services which offer support and advice.

If you are in immediate danger, call 999 and ask for the police – the police will continue to respond to emergency calls.

If you suspect that your neighbours or those in your community are victims of domestic abuse, we encourage you to report it to the police.

If you are in danger and unable to talk on the phone, dial 999 and listen to the questions from the operator and respond by coughing or tapping the handset if you can (If you are in danger, you will be asked to dial “55). Click here for the guidelines.

Cath Bacon, Tenant & Board Member

Cath is a politically independent local community campaigner. Since 2017 she has been the Vice Chair of Bradford District Credit Union and is an active member of anti-poverty groups, working on initiatives such as Food Savers, Uniform Savers and Manage Your Money Week initiatives at a strategic level. Since 2021 Cath has been a member of the Housing Ombudsman Service’s Resident Panel and has spoken at conferences about the importance of tenant engagement. In 2022 she was recognised with the award of Tenant of the Year at the Northern Housing Awards.

Cath works for UNISON, the country’s largest trade union and is also involved with a number of local community groups, charities, and health and education trusts.
